In February 2024, Al-Mustaqbal University organized "Al-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week", a pioneering initiative aimed at promoting sustainability awareness among young people and highlighting the challenges posed by climate change and its impact on future generations. The large event focused on regional development and the role of youth in driving change. The week aimed to raise environmental awareness about the effects of climate change, empower students to become active contributors to sustainable solutions, and foster collaboration between academics, policymakers, and the private sector. It also emphasized the connection between sustainability and regional development through practical projects and interactive discussions, inspiring a new generation of environmental leaders. The week featured a variety of activities, including the Green Innovation Exhibition, which showcased student projects in renewable energy and waste management, the Youth and Climate Forum, which brought together activists and experts in discussions about the role of the next generation in shaping environmental policies, as well as interactive workshops on sustainable agriculture, environmental design, and green entrepreneurship. In addition, educational environmental competitions and tree planting and clean up campaigns took place in the university's vicinity and local community. This week reinforced that sustainability is not an option, but a necessity, and that young people are at the heart of any real environmental transformation. A green future starts within universities and can extend to entire communities.
