Under the patronage and presence of Mr. Adnan Fayhan Al-Dulaimi, Governor of Babylon, the “Al-Mustaqbal Ambassadors for Sustainability” Camp was launched this evening at the Babylon Tourist Resort, organized by Al-Mustaqbal University under the direct supervision of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of the University.

The opening ceremony witnessed a large turnout of vice presidents, deans, governmental officials, faculty members, and students, along with a broad audience from the Babylon community.

Also attending the event was the President of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (Turkey) and his accompanying delegation, in a step that strengthens international academic relations and reinforces the university’s approach toward openness and cultural as well as scientific cooperation with regional and global institutions.

The first day of the two-day camp began with a cycling and running marathon, followed by an honoring ceremony for the winners, and the opening of the exhibition hall, which featured students’ projects and innovations from various colleges and departments, alongside active participation from university presidency units. The day also included student bazaars, artistic exhibitions, and a fashion show presented by the Iraqi Fashion House, which added a distinctive cultural and aesthetic touch to the event’s atmosphere.

The “Al-Mustaqbal Ambassadors for Sustainability” Camp is considered a pioneering initiative — the first of its kind among Iraqi universities. It represents a unique educational experience through which Al-Mustaqbal University transfers its academic and cultural activities beyond the campus, aiming to bridge the gap between the university and the community and embody its philosophy of openness and direct interaction with the local environment.

The camp holds special significance as it integrates practical education, active citizenship, and sustainable development. It serves as a platform for applying sustainability concepts in real-life contexts, encouraging students to engage in creative thinking, teamwork, and innovative problem-solving. It also aims to instill environmental and social responsibility in youth and motivate them to contribute to building a more sustainable future for their country.

Moreover, the camp focuses on youth empowerment and promoting students’ entrepreneurial projects by providing spaces for communication, exhibition, and knowledge exchange, thus helping to build a generation of change ambassadors capable of turning development aspirations into impactful community initiatives.

This camp comes within Al-Mustaqbal University’s strategic vision to strengthen the culture of sustainability and social entrepreneurship, invest in students’ potential through development-oriented projects, and contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in line with the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to support university activities with societal and innovative impact.
