Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the College of Law at Al-Mustaqbal University held the Second International Legal Conference on Sunday, 12 April 2026, under the title: “Digital Transformations and Technological Developments and Their Impact on Contemporary Legislative Policies”, and with the theme: “The Rule of Law and Achieving the Goals of Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.” The conference was held at the Central Conference Hall at the University Presidency.
The conference aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), primarily focusing on SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) through promoting the rule of law, addressing legislative challenges arising from digital transformation, and supporting the development of more efficient and transparent legal institutions.
It also supports several related secondary goals, including SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by examining the impact of technological advancement and digital transformation on legal systems, SDG 4 (Quality Education) through strengthening scientific research and academic exchange among participating universities, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through international academic collaboration between Al-Mustaqbal University, Mansoura University, and several Iraqi and Arab universities.
The conference witnessed broad participation from a distinguished group of academics and researchers, in collaboration with the Faculty of Law at Mansoura University, along with researchers from various public and private Iraqi universities and multiple Arab universities, giving the event a strong international academic dimension.
Research papers covered various branches of law, including constitutional, criminal, administrative, public and private international law, and commercial law. The studies focused on addressing legislative challenges associated with digital transformation and bridging legal gaps in this rapidly evolving field.
Professor Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini, Dean of the College of Law, stated that the conference represents an important step toward developing the legal system in line with modern technological advancements. He also noted that the conference produced several key recommendations aimed at supporting policymakers in updating legislation.
The conference received wide acclaim from participating academic and official bodies for its high scientific and organizational level, and for its role in promoting legal dialogue and keeping pace with contemporary changes.
