Al-Mustaqbal University participated as a key partner in the Fourth International Conference on Modern Technologies in Oil and Gas Industries (ICMTOGI 2026), organized by the College of Chemical Engineering at the University of Technology, with broad participation from academics, researchers, specialists, and representatives of institutions and sectors related to the oil and gas industry.
Al-Mustaqbal University was represented at the conference by Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Shakir Majdi, Dean of the College of Engineering, on behalf of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi. He was accompanied by Prof. Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, Dean of the College of Engineering Technologies, and Prof. Dr. Alaa Dhari Jawad, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Industries at the College of Engineering, along with a number of university academics, researchers, and specialists.
During the opening session, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Shakir Majdi delivered a speech on behalf of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohsen Nouri Hamza, President of the University of Technology, along with several college deans, representatives of the Ministry of Oil and relevant institutions, as well as distinguished researchers, academics, and specialists in the fields of energy and petroleum industries.
The speech highlighted the importance of the continued academic and scientific cooperation between Al-Mustaqbal University and the University of Technology, which encompasses the organization of scientific conferences and events, joint research, the exchange of expertise and knowledge, and enhanced collaboration among academics and researchers. It also highlighted the academic twinning programme between the Department of Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Industries at Al-Mustaqbal University’s College of Engineering and the College of Chemical Engineering at the University of Technology.
The speech further emphasized the importance of utilizing modern technologies, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation to advance the oil and gas sector, alongside improving energy efficiency, reducing emissions, and developing technologies for water treatment and industrial waste management. These efforts support the transition towards more sustainable practices in the energy sector.
It also stressed the importance of strengthening partnerships among universities, petroleum institutions, and industrial organizations, and translating scientific research outcomes into practical solutions and applications that contribute to the development of the sector and support the national economy in alignment with the requirements of sustainable development.
Al-Mustaqbal University’s participation as a key partner in the conference represents an extension of its longstanding academic and scientific cooperation with the University of Technology. It also reflects the University’s commitment to supporting applied scientific research and innovation, expanding academic and sectoral partnerships, and contributing to the development of Iraq’s energy sector and petroleum industries.
