Al-Mustaqbal University Strengthens Its Innovation Ecosystem and Celebrates the Achievements of Its Talented Students

The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majidi, received the Director of the Technology Incubator Division, Lecturer Dr. Musaddaq Maher Abdul-Zahra, along with a number of talented students participating in the Incubator’s programmes and the Student Innovation Camp held during the summer vacation. The meeting reflects the University’s commitment to nurturing young talent, promoting innovation, and transforming students’ ideas into practical technological projects and applicable solutions.
During the meeting, the Director of the Technology Incubator Division presented an overview of the Division’s key programmes, activities, and achievements, foremost among them the establishment of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre, which provides a structured environment for supporting innovative ideas and student projects. He also highlighted the organization of the Student Innovation Camp, held over a full month, which contributed to developing a number of initial technological concepts, projects, digital solutions, and platforms.
The presentation also covered specialized summer programmes and training courses in VEX Robotics, delivered through progressive training pathways, as well as practical demonstrations of artificial intelligence tools and specialized presentations on electronic plagiarism-detection systems and academic integrity. The Division also contributes to the evaluation of research proposals and provides academic support and supervision for postgraduate students.
The University President reviewed a number of proposed technological projects, including the SmartCart AI smart shopping cart project and the Smart Photovoltaic Panel System, which aims to utilize solar energy for electricity generation and management through an intelligent monitoring and control system. The meeting also addressed a proposed vision for transforming the University campus into a Living Laboratory for Technology and Sustainability, providing a practical environment for testing innovative solutions and promoting practice-based learning.
The University President commended the efforts of the Technology Incubator Division and the participating students, emphasizing that investing in young minds is one of the most important investments in the future. He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to supporting innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation, while encouraging students to transform their ideas into prototypes and practical projects that reflect the identity and future-oriented vision of Al-Mustaqbal University.
He also directed that the Incubator’s programmes be further supported and expanded, with the necessary resources provided to develop prototypes and promote multidisciplinary projects. He further emphasized the importance of establishing a database of student talents and capabilities to identify talented students, nurture their potential, and provide appropriate pathways for developing their projects.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the University President honored outstanding students in programming, robotics, artificial intelligence, and digital platform development, in recognition of their efforts, achievements, and commitment to using their summer vacation for learning, creativity, and productivity. The recognition also aims to encourage their peers to participate actively in the programmes and activities of the Technology Incubator.
For his part, the Director of the Technology Incubator Division expressed his appreciation to the University Presidency for its continued support of innovation and youth-oriented programmes. He emphasized that the Division follows an integrated approach based on moving from idea to prototype, from training to project, and from project to practical solution, thereby strengthening the innovation ecosystem and contributing to Al-Mustaqbal University’s growing role in advanced technology.
These initiatives are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, through providing practical learning and training opportunities and developing students’ digital and technological skills; and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, by supporting applied research, innovation, and the development of technological solutions.
The initiatives also contribute to SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy through the smart solar energy project, and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by promoting entrepreneurship, future-ready skills, and students’ employability. They further support SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities through the use of technology to create a more sustainable university environment, as well as SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by encouraging collaboration and the integration of expertise in multidisciplinary projects.
Through these initiatives and recognition programmes, Al-Mustaqbal University reaffirms its commitment to building a university ecosystem that fosters innovation, invests in young talent, and advances knowledge, technology, and entrepreneurship. These efforts contribute to preparing a generation capable of developing innovative solutions to future challenges and playing an active role in advancing sustainable development
