A Partnership for a Stronger Professional Future: Al-Mustaqbal University Supports Engineering Training in Cooperation with the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate

As part of efforts to strengthen partnerships between academic and professional institutions, enhance the quality of engineering education, and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate – Babylon Branch honored the Deanship of the College of Engineering Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University in recognition of its efforts in supporting the successful implementation of the summer training programme for engineering students from universities across Babylon Governorate.
The ceremony was attended by the Dean of the College of Engineering Technologies, Professor Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abdul, who expressed his appreciation for the initiative and commended the role of the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate – Babylon Branch in supporting engineering students and enhancing their practical experience by providing field-training opportunities and facilitating direct engagement with the professional engineering environment.
The summer training programme provided students with a valuable educational and professional experience, enabling them to gain first-hand exposure to the various stages of construction projects and familiarize themselves with professional engineering practices. It also allowed them to benefit from the practical expertise of the engineers and specialists supervising the training sites.
This recognition highlights the importance of cooperation between universities and professional institutions in advancing education by providing training opportunities that develop students’ practical skills, strengthen their professional competencies, and facilitate their transition from the academic environment to the labour market.
The initiative forms part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to practice-based and applied education, providing students with meaningful opportunities to gain professional experience alongside their academic knowledge. This contributes to preparing engineering graduates capable of responding effectively to labour market requirements and the rapid developments taking place within the engineering sector.
The partnership between Al-Mustaqbal University and the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate – Babylon Branch also demonstrates the importance of integrated efforts between academic and professional institutions in serving the community and supporting young people. It further transforms practical training into an effective pathway for capacity building, employability, and sustainable professional development.
This cooperation aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, through providing high-quality education and practical training; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by developing students’ skills and enhancing their professional readiness and employability; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through strengthening cooperation between academic and professional institutions to achieve sustainable developmental impact.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Deanship of the College of Engineering Technologies expressed its appreciation to the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate – Babylon Branch for its efforts in supporting students and contributing to the success of the summer training programme. The Deanship also extended its appreciation to all academics, engineers, and supervisors who contributed to providing students with a valuable scientific and professional training experience.
Al-Mustaqbal University reaffirms its continued commitment to supporting academic and professional partnerships that contribute to developing students’ skills, enhancing the quality of engineering education, and preparing a generation of engineers equipped with the knowledge, competencies, and practical experience required to contribute effectively to sustainable development and serve the community.
