The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majidi, received the Director General of the Babylon Directorate of Education, Mr. Ali Raji, as part of the University's efforts to expand its partnerships with educational institutions in the governorate and strengthen integration between school and higher education in support of educational development and sustainable development pathways.
The meeting focused on prospects for joint cooperation and ways to strengthen relations between the two sides by providing school students with high-quality educational, scientific, and technological opportunities that contribute to developing their skills, identifying their talents, and enhancing their readiness for university life and the demands of the future.
The meeting addressed a number of proposed areas of cooperation, including:
Organizing training courses and professional development programmes for educational staff in modern technologies, digital transformation, and e-learning.
Engaging school students in robotics and artificial intelligence programmes implemented by the University's Technology Incubator, thereby fostering innovation and scientific thinking.
Organizing educational visits for senior school students to the University's laboratories and colleges to familiarize them with academic disciplines and modern learning environments.
Holding joint seminars, workshops, and activities in scientific, cultural, and community-related fields.
Providing academic and career guidance for sixth-year preparatory students to help them explore university disciplines and future educational and career opportunities.
Exploring the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to regulate areas of cooperation and establish mechanisms for implementing joint programmes and initiatives.
The President of Al-Mustaqbal University emphasized that the University places its scientific, technological, and human resources at the service of the community and its institutions. He noted that cooperation with the Babylon Directorate of Education represents an extension of the University's role in serving the community and supporting sustainable development, particularly by building effective bridges between school and university education and providing students with early opportunities to acquire the scientific and technological skills needed to meet future challenges.
For his part, the Director General of the Babylon Directorate of Education expressed his appreciation to the University's Presidency for the warm reception, commending Al-Mustaqbal University's scientific, developmental, and community-oriented role. He also affirmed the Directorate's readiness to strengthen cooperation and activate joint programmes in ways that serve students and educational staff across the governorate.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides exchanged views and proposals on mechanisms for developing cooperation and agreed to follow up on the implementation of the discussed initiatives through joint committees, ensuring the sustainability of programmes and initiatives and achieving tangible educational and community impact.
This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, through supporting educational quality and developing the skills of students and educational staff; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, by promoting technological education, innovation, artificial intelligence, and robotics; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, through developing future-ready skills and preparing students at an early stage for the labour market; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through establishing an effective institutional partnership between the University and educational institutions to serve the community and advance sustainable development.
Through this partnership, Al-Mustaqbal University reaffirms its commitment to its educational and community role and its pursuit of an integrated educational ecosystem that connects schools with higher education and invests in people, knowledge, and innovation, contributing to the development of a generation equipped with the skills and competencies needed to build a more sustainable future.
