Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, Al-Mustaqbal University officially inaugurated the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center in the Al-Qadiya area of Babylon Governorate. The ceremony was attended by the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Professor Dr. Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, along with several deans, directors of centers and departments, faculty members, students, and individuals interested in innovation and entrepreneurship.
The establishment of the Center reflects the University's strategic vision to foster a culture of creativity and innovation while supporting its transformation into a productive university, in line with global trends toward knowledge-based economies and investment in human capital as a key driver of sustainable development.
Located outside the university campus to strengthen engagement with the wider community and various sectors, the Center features dedicated spaces for innovative and entrepreneurial projects, facilities for showcasing and marketing creative products and ideas, advanced laboratories for artificial intelligence applications, and specialized areas designed to provide guidance, mentorship, and support for promising initiatives with the potential to evolve into successful entrepreneurial ventures.
The Center also offers modern training facilities dedicated to implementing professional development and capacity-building programs targeting students, public and private sector institutions, and different segments of society. These programs aim to enhance future skills and promote innovation, digital transformation, and entrepreneurship.
In a statement to the University Media Center, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi emphasized that the inauguration of the Center represents a significant strategic milestone in the University's journey toward becoming a productive university. He noted that the Center will serve as a hub for creative ideas and a dynamic platform for nurturing young talents and innovative initiatives capable of addressing developmental and economic challenges through practical solutions.
For his part, Professor Dr. Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi explained that the establishment of the Center is aligned with the rapid global shift toward the digital and knowledge economies. He affirmed that the University seeks, through this initiative, to support young innovators and entrepreneurs by providing an integrated ecosystem for training, mentorship, guidance, and partnership-building across various sectors.
The launch of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center demonstrates Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, through the provision of advanced educational and training opportunities; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by promoting entrepreneurship and supporting startup ventures; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, through fostering innovation and technological advancement; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by strengthening collaboration with governmental, private, and community organizations.
