Al-Mustaqbal University Promotes Medical Innovation through the 3rd Scientific Forum for Medical Devices

Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and as part of the activities of the 4th International Sustainability Week, the Department of Medical Instrumentation Techniques Engineering held the 3rd Scientific Forum for Medical Devices on Wednesday, 15/4/2026, with wide participation from academic staff and students, as well as a number of specialists and professionals in the technical field.
This event aligns with the university’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through advancing medical technologies, SDG 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing scientific research and student skills, and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) by promoting innovation in medical engineering.
The forum aimed to strengthen the scientific and research aspects and keep pace with the latest developments in medical instrumentation engineering, in addition to providing an academic environment for exchanging expertise and ideas among participants. The event was opened with a speech by the Dean of the College of Engineering Technology, Assistant Professor Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abdul, who welcomed the attendees and praised the efforts of the organizers, emphasizing the importance of supporting applied student projects that serve society and the medical sector.
The forum included the presentation of scientific research papers and specialized student projects highlighting the latest technologies and challenges in the field, along with open scientific discussions among participants to enhance knowledge exchange.
The event also featured distinguished lectures, including a lecture by Dr. Engineer Mustafa Ahmed Rajab Al-Najjar titled (Sustainability of Medical Devices Using Artificial Intelligence), which addressed the role of AI in improving medical device efficiency, diagnostics, and personalized treatment, in line with digital transformation in healthcare.
Another lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Thamer Kazem Al-Saadi titled (Stem Cell Therapy), highlighting the therapeutic applications of stem cells in treating several diseases such as diabetes, eye conditions, spinal cord injuries, and brain disorders.
The forum also included interactive discussions on the development of student projects and the future of medical devices from the perspective of biomedical engineering, attended by the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Al-Zuhairi, who commended the efforts made in organizing the forum and supporting scientific research.
This activity is also linked to SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening academic collaboration and knowledge exchange between scientific institutions, contributing to sustainability in higher education.
At the conclusion of the forum, attendees praised the level of organization and the scientific content presented, expressing their hope for the continuation of such academic activities in the future. Certificates of appreciation and Sustainability Week shields were awarded to participants and distinguished contributors in recognition of their efforts.
