Al-Mustaqbal University Promotes Women Empowerment for Sustainable Development

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the College of Engineering Technologies organized an in-person scientific seminar on Tuesday, 31/03/2026, on the occasion of Mother’s Day, held at the Student Activities Hall in the Engineering Building, under the supervision of the Women’s Affairs Unit, with the participation of academic staff, employees, and a large number of students.
The seminar was held under the follow-up of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Azhar Mohsen, in the context of supporting and empowering women and enhancing their role in scientific and engineering fields, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 “Quality Education” and Goal 5 “Gender Equality.”
The seminar featured a scientific lecture entitled “The Role of Women in Leadership Positions and Balancing Work and Parenting,” delivered by Professor Dr. Amani Ibrahim from Al-Karkh University. The lecture highlighted the importance of empowering women to be successful role models both professionally and within the family, emphasizing their prominent role in renewable energy, their contributions to developing environmentally friendly industries, and reducing the use of plastics.
The seminar concluded with the Dean of the College honoring a number of outstanding mothers from the staff, awarding them certificates of appreciation in recognition of their dedication and active role in serving the community, science, and work. The College reaffirmed its commitment to supporting women’s potential and providing a stimulating educational environment that strengthens the university’s position among private universities in Iraq.
