A Qualitative Leap in Iraqi Postgraduate Education: Al-Mustaqbal University Confirms Success of International Master’s Program with University of Science Malaysia

As part of strategic efforts to enhance the quality of higher education and expand international academic partnerships, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, met with postgraduate students enrolled in the Master’s program in Electronic Systems Engineering hosted in cooperation with University of Science Malaysia. The meeting was attended by the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, and the Program Director, Prof. Dr. Hamza Al-Khafaji.
During the meeting, the University President emphasized the importance of making the best use of this distinguished academic opportunity by committing to rigorous study and exerting maximum effort to achieve high-quality scientific outcomes. He stressed that success in postgraduate studies is not measured solely by obtaining a degree, but by the research skills, analytical capabilities, and creativity students acquire, which enable them to contribute effectively to knowledge development and real-world problem-solving.
In a supportive gesture reflecting the University’s commitment to nurturing promising scientific talents, he affirmed the University’s support for providing employment opportunities for graduates of the Malaysian-hosted Master’s program upon successful completion of their studies, highlighting the importance of sustaining qualified academic human capital within the institution and contributing to the development of an advanced educational and research environment.
He further noted that the Master’s programs hosted in cooperation with the University of Science Malaysia represent a significant qualitative leap in Iraq’s higher education sector, as they constitute the first initiative of their kind among Iraqi universities. The program has contributed to raising academic standards and strengthening international openness in education and research.
He added that the initiative is strongly supported by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the university administration, and it has already demonstrated remarkable success, with previous cohorts completing all graduation requirements and defending their theses, receiving high praise from Malaysian academics for the achieved results and academic excellence.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on directing research toward applied scientific fields that provide solutions to technological challenges, support industrial development, and promote innovation, in alignment with the University’s vision of serving society and achieving sustainable development.
