Al-Mustaqbal University Among the Top 15 Iraqi Universities in the Quality of Scientific Publishing, Achieving Outstanding Performance According to the Global CNCI Indicator

Al-Mustaqbal University has recorded an advanced scientific standing, ranking among the top 15 Iraqi universities in scientific publishing, according to an analysis of Web of Science database data for the period 2020–2024. The analysis was based on the number of published research papers, the Category Normalized Citation Impact (CNCI), and the proportion of publications ranked within the top 10% worldwide.

The analysis results showed that Al-Mustaqbal University produced 3,192 published scientific research papers during the specified period, placing it among Iraq’s leading universities in terms of research output, alongside long-established institutions such as the University of Baghdad, the University of Technology, and Al-Mustansiriyah University. This figure reflects a clear growth in the university’s research activity and the expansion of its participation in international scientific publishing.

Qualitative indicators further demonstrated Al-Mustaqbal University’s excellence in research quality and impact. The university achieved a CNCI value of 1.28, exceeding the global average, and recorded 16.07% of its publications within the top 10% worldwide in terms of citations. This positions the university ahead of several institutions with larger research outputs. Accordingly, based on Web of Science indicators, Al-Mustaqbal University has come to represent a balanced model that combines the volume of scientific output with its quality and international impact, in line with its strategic directions to support rigorous research and enhance publication in high-reputation international journals.
