Al-Mustaqbal University Continues Its Journey of Excellence for the Third Consecutive Year with a New Achievement in the Times Higher Education Arab Ranking 2026

Al-Mustaqbal University continues to strengthen its leading position within the higher education landscape, after announcing a new academic achievement for the third consecutive year in the Times Higher Education Arab University Rankings 2026. The University ranked third (tie) in Iraq among 58 Iraqi universities included in the ranking, and entered the 100–125 band at the Arab level as one of the top four Iraqi universities in this category, within a ranking that featured 268 universities from 18 Arab countries this year.

The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, affirmed in a statement to the University’s Media Department that this continued progress reflects the strength of the University’s institutional performance and the coherence of its strategy in enhancing the quality of education, strengthening scientific research, and supporting academic internationalization.
He noted that the University’s advancement for the third year to a leading position in Iraq and an advanced position in the Arab region is the result of sustained investment in developing faculties and research centers, providing an innovation-friendly environment, and expanding academic partnerships with prestigious international universities and institutions.

For his part, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, stated that maintaining this distinguished position both in Iraq and the Arab region reflects several years of dedicated efforts to enhance scientific publishing, expand joint research projects, and develop international collaboration programs, in addition to improving the research infrastructure, which has significantly contributed to strengthening the University’s indicators in global rankings.

He also indicated that the University is moving forward with implementing its strategic plans aimed at enhancing the teaching and learning environment, expanding the scope of international partnerships, and reinforcing its regional and global presence.

It is noteworthy that the Times Higher Education Arab Ranking is based on five main pillars:
Teaching and learning environment, research, research impact (citations), industry and knowledge transfer, and international outlook—a comprehensive methodology that measures the academic and research performance of Arab universities.
