In an effort to promote academic integrity and enhance research quality, the Scientific Affairs Department at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a specialized awareness workshop titled: “Retracted Papers and How to Avoid Removal from Academic Databases.” The workshop witnessed the participation of several faculty members and researchers from across the university.
Held under the patronage and direct guidance of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and supervised by the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Prof. Dr. Muthaffar Sadiq Al-Zuheiri, the workshop aimed to raise awareness about the reasons behind the retraction of research papers from reputable international databases. It also highlighted the methodological and ethical standards researchers must adhere to in order to maintain the scientific reputation of both individuals and academic institutions.
Prof. Dr. Tareq Jawad, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department, delivered a comprehensive presentation covering the principles of academic integrity and the ethics of scientific publishing. He provided real-world examples of retracted research papers, warning of the dangers associated with publishing in predatory journals and the improper use of AI tools in research preparation.
Organizers emphasized that this workshop is part of the university’s broader strategy to enhance the quality of scientific research and to ensure its active and distinguished presence in internationally recognized academic databases.
